Actually, no, it's not. Because LASIK is all paid for now, its cost is locked in, but eyeglasses and contacts get more expensive due to inflation. So, the glasses you buy today cost $350, but if we assume a flat inflation rate of 3 % per year--which is unrealistically low--the glasses you buy in two years will cost $371, and the ones you buy in four years will cost $393, etc. So, after 15 years, the total adjusted cost for glasses is over $3400. And the adjusted cost for contacts? 15 years from now, you can expect to pay over $747 for one year's worth of lenses, up from the $480 annual cost today, which is a high price to pay.
